How do you define success?
This was the rhetorical question I was asked the first day of my marketing 101 class as a bright eyed, extra curious, nervous freshman ready to conquer my university. Since graduating, I’ve discovered various iterations of what I thought was success as my career has progressed, however, in the moments I find myself questioning why I chose a career in marketing, I go back to that eager student in that small, windowless classroom and ultimately, my definition of success – passion.
I started my career as a marketing assistant at an art gallery successfully merging my favorite career path with my favorite side hustle (art). As I looked at the gallery’s marketing plans and dove headfirst into SWOT and competitive analysis’ I was asked by my manager, an artist herself, to help rebrand her personal website. This began my passion for all things digital marketing.
From there I landed my next position as a Search Engine Optimization Specialist at a Buffalo, NY marketing firm where I learned SEO and successfully completed Google Analytics and AdWords Certifications. At that point customer journeys, online traffic data, and CTAs were all I could talk about, so I was asked to share my passion with new hires via trainings and successfully helped lead a department of 25+ people.
I’ve spent the last several years using my diverse background (an art nerd with a visually creative eye who also loves big data and consumer behavior psychology, yep, very different!) to work with clients on an individual level. I’ve helped address pain points in website sales/conversion funnels and utilized UX data to address those concerns and find solutions in a rapidly changing digital market.
I am passionate about marketing and I love what I do. This is the driving force that makes me want to get up and take on the world every Monday.
